Giving up Devil Worship for Deism
I am a pretty committed Deist. Deists cannot worship the devil.
As I wrote earlier, I have through an evolutionary process become a pretty serious Deist. What does that hold for the slogan 8-19 (hail Satan)? Well, the slogan is still a battle cry and it can still be used symbolically, but I no longer mean it literally.
Deists believe in a distant creator which does not have human or animal like attributes and does not reveal itself through textbooks. If the higher power is distant, then one cannot have a personal relationship with the Devil. One can idealize the concept of rebellion, but one cannot believe in a fallen angel.
It was certainly amusing to get into the skin of people with open Devil worship. However, you cannot worship what does not actually exist and after lengthy internal debate, I have decided to go with ideological principle over shock value.
Yet I suppose to many, Deism is just as offensive as Satanism, so maybe I should not be so bummed. To question the very nature of revealed religion and God’s earthly nature in revealed religion is rebellious. So there is no end to the rebellion.
Still, 8-19.
